How we can help

Common Pitfalls

Lack of Ultrasound Knowledge/Skills

LACK OF ULTRASOUND KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

The key to accurately identify and document the extent of the patients disease will have a major impact and make all of the difference in the course of treatment and outcome for that specific patient.

Wrong Scanning Approach

WRONG SCANNING APPROACH

When evaluating the patient for venous disease it is imperative to follow an in depth anatomy scan of the patients entire lower extremity superficial system as well as ruling out deep venous thrombosis within the deep system. It has been prevalent many sonographers spot check anatomical locations of the veins as opposed to thoroughly evaluating each and every vein from origin to its most distal location which leads to the improper treatment plan as well as suboptimal results.

Wrong Treatment Approach

WRONG TREATMENT APPROACH

The objective when treating patients is to work from the most proximal point of incompetency towards the most distal point. The main truncal veins (source of where many varicosities, tributary and spider veins originate from) as well as perforating veins should be treated in accordance to what stage of the disease process the patient is currently in. Improper and/or incomplete treatment will lead to unsuccessful results for the patients and the possibility for near future reoccurrences.

Suboptimal Workflows

SUBOPTIMAL WORKFLOWS

Many times the offices thrive on workflows that are spelled out for them. One of the many things we strive to deliver within your office is customizing a specific workflow according to your current staffing and office capabilities. When there is an understanding of who is responsible for their specific role in the venous program much of the suboptimal workflow is easily negated leading to lower overhead costs and higher success for everyone involved.

Lack of Insurance Requirement Knowledge

LACK OF INSURANCE REQUIREMENT KNOWLEDGE

It is imperative to stay up to date on insurance guidelines for every payer. These changes happen often and without notice. Although the billing and authorization department have a good understanding of the requirements needed for treatment, many times the clinical staff is unaware. Lack of knowledge leads to insurance denials, patients not receiving treatment and even the possibility of offices having to absorb the cost of treatment due to improper documentation and knowledge.
